RMG Ghana has organized a commercial business partners meeting on Friday, 24^th May 2019 at the office premise in Accra.

The meeting was organized to introduce modalities for the planting season of the Youth in Agriculture under the Planting for Food and Jobs program. Secondly, the program offered the platform in evaluating partner performance of the previous planting season. In attendance were 39 representatives from our network of commercial business partners.

Presenting at the event, the Commercial Manager of RMG Ghana Ltd. Mr. Martin Nartey appreciated the efforts of the Commercial Partners across the country for been a pillar in the success of the programme in the last two years. He also took participants through the modalities of the new season in accessing inputs. He stressed that, this programme is arguably the best opportunity for youth farmers to access quality inputs; hybrid seeds under subsidies, Fertilizers, Crop Protection Products (weedicides and insecticides) and other services under the program.

TThe General Manager of RMG Ghana Ltd. Mr Roland Quaye in his address at the event said, due to how big the Programme is growing, it has become important for the introduction of Crop Insurance. He iterated “the introduction of crop insurance is a strategic measure to curb any instance that may affect yield which could result in default in recovery by Commercial Partners."

The Youth in Agriculture Programme (YIAP) is a Government of Ghana (GOG) agricultural sector initiative with an objective of motivating the youth to accept and appreciate farming/food production as a commercial venture, thereby taking up farming as a life time vocation.

RMG Ghana is a key player in the Youth in Agriculture Programme with the supply of quality agricultural inputs and extension services through the various smallholder farmer associations across the country.

The RMG/YIAP since its inception in 2017, has grown from 23, 000 acres to 46,000 acres in 2018 in both maize and rice production across the country. This year, the programme is projected to grow to 100,000 acres in maize, rice and soya.
